MiniWeaving Story

When I first wove a miniature carpet in 2021, I had no idea how far that one little project will take me and how rewarding will that journey become. I thought I knew the basics well enough to make a lasting piece of miniature art, and the one thing I was right about is that it is, indeed, lasting in all its naivete of a neophyte. I made just about every mistake possible.

Today I love that crooked mess of yarn too thick and too fuzzy to be a well-scaled miniature rug. I love that it led me down the weaving rabbit hole that never stops opening new ideas to explore, and new mistakes to make. For I love mistakes we make when learning: they are the key to our successes in all artistry, and they are the constant witness to how much we grew in our knowledge and skill.

I present to you the fruits of this labour of love (and occasional hate, despair, and vengeance), and I contrast it with that very first piece I made. I do know that I am making all new mistakes but I hope, as I keep weaving and dreaming (as I keep weaving my dreams and dreaming my weaves), that the next time I send my voice expressed in colour and texture in cotton or silk or linen or whatever the fancy may gift me at 3 a.m., that there will be a difference of progress in my work, as well as some new mistakes possible only at the higher level of the craft I pursue.

While I hope that my work becomes sought after among fellow miniaturists, I also wish to create a whole new community of weavers, one that specializes in miniatures, and becomes a place where we learn from each other and encourage each other in our artistic endevour.

Join me in this adventure as I promise you this is only the beginning.

About this site

The content of this site is created by a human. Every sentence, every photo, every miniature display and item depicted - they are all created by a human. While AI may have its place in our technological existence, I won't allow it to take away from me the chance to use my own creativity. Hence, if the site is not always fresh, and my social media not always updated, that is because I am busy doing all the beautiful, amazing, creative, engaging, passionate, tedious, frustrating, liberating, empowering, demanding, and imperfect things I do.

(I wish AI would stop trying to finish my sentences.)

Huge thanks to Nada, Hannah, Aleena, Neil, Curtis, Svetlana, and other friends who patiently listened to me talk about miniature weaving for years. I wouldn't have been able to do this without your support and encouragement.
