You can weave anywhere!

(coming soon)

Did you ever envy knitters and crocheters for being able to wait for the bus and do their craft while weaving can only be done at home with large frames and bunch of non-portable trinkets?

That problem is solved. MiniWeaving Studio worked hard for the last three years to make miniweaving portable.

The result is a series of video and photo tutorials dedicated to teaching miniweaving that can be done anywhere. From learning to make portable weaving pads (size as per your own needs) made out of readily available craft materials, to learning proper miniweaving techniques, to designing your own miniwoven rugs or other items, these tutorials start from a complete beginner and lead to an expert level.

After just the beginner level you will be able to pack your portable miniweaving pad, supplies, and tools in any pouch or bag, even a pencil case, and happily miniweave while travelling or waiting for an appointment.

Level Green: Complete Beginners
(expected by April 2025)

Level Green

If you never tried to weave but would like to start with proper instructions, you are at the right place. Easy to follow video instructions start with making a miniweaving pad with readily available materials from craft and dollar stores, with common tools, such as box cutters, scissors, or wire cutters. No need to be a crafty expert for as long as you can follow basic instructions about safety and have average ability to handle these common tools.

The best thing is that you can make it any size you want! The proprietary technique we created gives you flexibility to make your own weaving devices just as you like them.

Once you have your basic miniweaving pad and tools, you will learn about best yarn for a beginner, in most cases readily available in your local craft stores or online.

From there, you continue with miniweaving with our guidance to produce beautifully textured weaves for miniature rugs or runners.

If you follow the instructions, you will need just one to two months of subscription to learn these basics.

Please note: these tutorials are designed for adults.

Level Blue: Intermediate
(expected by May 2025)

Level Blue

Once you learn the basics, you will be ready for a more advanced miniweaving pad, one that has a device that will speed your weaving tenfold. Fear not, the way to make it and the tools and materials needed are just as basic and inexpensive as for the beginning level but now you can do more and faster. Still portable, you can fit your weaving studio in a small letter-size pouch, and inconspicuously take it with you on your vacation.

At this level you are getting tips on better and easier weaving and how to overcome some common challenges.

You will also learn more complicated patterns which will give you the ability to design various shapes and design contemporary and traditional rugs. There is also a section about other yarns suitable for miniweaving, as well as few new tools that you can make yourself. Level Blue introduces the basics of dyeing yarn with chemical dyes to achieve your own colours.

Please note: these tutorials are designed for adults.

This level's videos are delivered over a period of six months.

Level Purple: Advanced
(expected by January 2026)

Level Purple

There are many weaving techniques for traditional and modern designs which require advanced methods. While the tools may be the same, the methods are intricate and require patience and dedication. There will also be a tutorial on using natural dyes to achieve weathered, antique look of traditional kilims.

For true lovers of miniaturized weaving, this level works through traditional slit-weaving method, contemporary tapestry method, and variety of professional level tips. The yarns are finer and made specifically for weaving, but still readily available in weaving shops or online. Special attention will be dedicated to designing and planning of your weaving.

Please note: these tutorials are designed for adults.
